All Hail To The Cloth Diaper

This mommy bows down

So today I decide that I will go to the grocery store with three of my children today. Now the process for that takes about 30 minutes to make sure everyone is changed and all ready in the van. (Woo this momma is already tired)

And I have to say that people just make me smile when they see me in the store with two carts tied together and my children just sitting they’re behaving. J  The smiles and laughs and the “I do not know how you do it” and the “wow they are so well behaved.”  Hmm… to be honest I am not sure how I do it. I think I have been on autopilot since 2009. And I really do not know why they are so well behaved. All I know is I thought that it was important no matter how many kids we have to always take them out in public so they are use to being around people. I would hope that is the reason that they are well behaved in public. But trust me they have their days.

Ok Back to the topic at hand. I got a little side tracked.

Set aside the fact of how good cloth diapering is for our environment. I totally think they are great for other reasons.

I am just going to list off the pros and cons for Cloth and Disposables in the McPhillips Household.

Now that we have twins we use both disposables and cloth diapers. With my first two most of the time it was just clothe. But anyone that has twins would know it is twice as much diaper changing then one child. So I only have about 35 cloth diapers and sometimes I would run out before I can wash more. And I do not want to buy more since I do not plan on having any more children. So I make with work with what I have. But I will still sware by cloth diapering.

McPhillips Household:  Cloth Diapers Vs. Disposables

Pros

Kids with Sensitive Skin (No Rashes)
Kids unable to undo the snaps
The Smell
Less Trash and easy to wash
Hardly any break through / leakage all over the house ugh. (OMG do not get me started)
Potty Training sooner supposedly but I have lazy boys so we will see how it works with Katie.
It does prove that they do not like being wet so they will cry to be changed.

The best one I have is the money.  Diapers are so expensive. And the diapers I have I have had since my first child. So I could use them on all of them.

I know these do not seem like much but to me they are like my world.

Pros for disposables. They are easier to travel with.

Cons
To be honest I am not sure I have any cons for Cloth diapering besides it is hard to travel with cloth because they do have to be washed. But if you plan it right it is possible. But we do use Disposables to travel with.

Cost of diaper
Diaper rash
Leakage (OMG)
This right here is something that just ticks me off so bad. Today actually when I got back from the grocery story and picked up my daughter she was drenched. I was like you have to be kidding me. I was not even gone an hour. Ok no biggie so I took all her clothes off and the diaper was barely wet. WTH?  And before you think of this the diaper was on her all the way.  I have also had this happen with my son. Changed him and not 30 minutes later the diaper looks barely wet but there is a puddle under my son’s feet while he standing there.
Diaper Breaking Down
Actually starts to break down after being barely wet.  Either these are being made cheaper or there is just something wrong with my children and me. UGH what a pain.

Well, those are the most important for this household. And friends I am finish with my rant. LOL!!! Sometimes it is just nice to get things out of your head so that the next thing can take up that space. Because in this household there is always something else waiting to take over.

Gotta love Motherhood. It’s a wonderful if you do not weaken.
